Global warming is our friend

Predictably, the urge to buy new wheels for my bike won over the need to get new tires for my car. No regrets...at least until I try to stop at a red light the next time the road is wet. I'll try and get some bike porn photos posted soon. At least I'll LOOK fast next season, if nothing else.

Training started up in earnest as of November 1st, so I'm easing back into things. A couple days a week at the gym, and a couple putting in some miles on the road. There are few things less motivating than getting home from work when it's dark outside and trying to convince your body to run a few miles. It gets worse at the YMCA, since the outdoor pool (which is open year round) is generally the only pool that isn't packed with prenatal mothers or a geriatric jazzercise class. There's about 60 feet of concrete pool deck that one has to negotiate before hitting the water, which, when it's 35 degrees and drizzling outside, is pretty miserable. Getting out is even worse, and once I get back inside the building, no one wants to see a pale, skinny, shivering white boy in a speedo. It's really no-win. But at least there's only 4-5 more months of crap weather, right?
